Who Is Carlsbad Kiwanis?
Founded on March 9, 1976, the Kiwanis Club of Carlsbad is a locally-affiliated member of Kiwanis International, a US-born service organization, with a current worldwide membership of over 300,000. Kiwanis identifies Children as its Number One Priority, and its Carlsbad club has adopted that emphasis as its own.
Even though we sponsor a Key Club at Carlsbad High School, a Builders Club at Valley Middle School, and function as Chartering Organization for Boy Scouts of America Troop #784, we're still not satisfied that we're doing all that we can. On our journey towards rectifying that situation, we have added several new Community Service projects during the 2007/08 year.
We are also a group of men and women who gather once each week for breakfast, networking, socialization, and discussion of upcoming Community Service projects.
We always welcome guests. Join us on a Tuesday morning at the El Camino Country Club in Oceanside at 7:15 am. Please contact our Club President and let him know that you would like to find out more about the Kiwanis Club of Carlsbad!
A few of our activities . . .
. . . include our semi-annual Pancake Breakfast held during Carlsbad's Street Faire each May and November (we've been doing it for 29 years). In truth, these twice-yearly events are our major fundraisers, providing the moneys needed to support most of our programs.
But, for us Kiwanians, these breakfasts are also opportunities to meet many of our friends and neighbors as they come through our serving line for pancakes, sausage, juice, and coffee. It's also a lot of fun for our members and they look forward to each one.
. . . also include the annual operation of the Pacific Coast Highway Aid Station each October for the Tour de Poway bicycle marathon.
. . . and a lot more!
