Carlsbad Kiwanis installs new officers for 2008/2009
Members of the Kiwanis Club of Carlsbad installed their new officers at a gala dinner ceremony on September 30 with members, spouses, Scouts from Troop #784, and other special guests in attendance.

New President Jose DeAnda, left photo, was installed by Division 37's new Lt. Governor, Betty Parker. In the right photo, last year's Lt. Governor Walt Schuette awarded outgoing President Steve Chapin the coveted Duke Award in recognition of Chapin's tenacity and perseverance during his year as President.
In the photo on the left, Liz Ferguson was honored by Past President Chapin as Kiwanian of the Year for Carlsbad Kiwanis. Treasurer Monir Marefat, right photo, proudly shows the colorful gown which she designed and made especially for the evening.

Club assists in event
for third year in row
Members of the Carlsbad Kiwanis Club on October 5 again operated the Aid Station on South Carlsbad Blvd. for the annual Tour de Poway bicycle race. The 102-mile portion of the event begins in Poway, then winds its way into Carlsbad at Palomar Airport Road then turns at Old Highway 101, following the Pacific Ocean coastline through the city.
